Louis Armstrong’s “A kiss is just a kiss” does not apply to a smooch being heard around the world. First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff kissed before the president gave his State of the Union address.
The kiss was not a perfunctory placing of lips on another’s cheek; it appeared to be a mouth-on-mouth kiss. The kiss broke the internet as social media denizens discussed exactly what’s going on in the West Wing at night.

First lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff shared a close kiss at the start of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Tuesday night, sparking some attention online.
When FLOTUS greeted Emhoff on Tuesday, some online thought the kiss appeared to be on the lips, instead of a typical cheek kiss — or at the least, a little too intimate.
“We’re off to a HOT start,” Greg Price joked.
“Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff greet each other with… a kiss on the lips? Is this… normal?” posed Cabot Phillips, captioning video of the greeting.
“Jill Biden just kissed Kamala Harris’ husband on the lips,” Collin Rugg remarked. “Didn’t see that one coming.”
“Why did Jill Biden kiss Doug Emhoff on the mouth?” Arthur Schwartz asked.
During the address, Biden will brag about the economy despite Americans feeling economic pain under the Democratic administration.
“As I stand here tonight, we have created a record 12 million new jobs — more jobs created in two years than any president has ever created in four years,” POTUS said.
The president also swiped at the wealthy not paying their “fair share,” and the tax code being unfair.
