Popular podcast host Joe Rogan raised eyebrows with comments regarding the January 6 Capitol protest and breach of the Capitol.
Never far from controversy, Rogan suggested Jan. 6 events may have been an orchestrated effort by U.S. government intelligence agencies, potentially to undermine former President Donald Trump, according to the New York Post.

Rogan pointed to the known practices of intelligence agencies using “agent provocateurs” to instigate unrest at otherwise peaceful protests.
“The Jan. 6 thing is bad, but also, the intelligence agencies were involved in provoking people into the Capitol building. That’s a fact,” Rogan said during Friday’s “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.
The well-known podcaster named Ray Epps as a possible agent involved in the Capitol breach, further propelling the conversation. Of Epps, Rogan said:
“I think that every other person who was involved in Jan. 6 — who was involved in coordinating a break-in into the Capitol and then instigating people — they were all arrested. This guy wasn’t.”
“Well, he clearly instigated,” Rogan claimed, adding, “He did it on camera.”
According to The Daily Beast, Rogan has made similar claims before, noting that in a recent interview with comedian Jim Gaffigan, Rogan asserted “the FBI and CIA were involved in engineering chaos to portray demonstrators as violent.”

Rogan also highlighted the open disdain former President Trump displayed toward the intelligence community. He insinuated the animosity between the two gave credence to his provocative theory.
Rogan suggested that the January 6 incident may have been part of a larger effort by the intelligence community to portray Trump supporters in a negative light, given Trump’s contentious relationship with what he often referred to as the “deep state.”
Rogan’s guest and many Democrats were quick to note that Rogan’s speculations could not be substantiated by evidence at this time.
Ray Epps is currently immersed in several lawsuits; he asserts he is the victim of slander and false claims, and that these false claims negatively impacted his reputation, safety and career.
According to The Daily Beast, Epps has taken Fox News to court for defamation, after the network claimed he was an undercover federal agent who incited the violence.
As with any claim or theory, it is essential for readers to critically analyze and corroborate information with multiple reliable sources.
