Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) is calling for former Vice President Kamala Harris to be subpoenaed as part of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
Gill made the remarks during a Friday appearance on Fox Business’ Mornings With Maria, where host Cheryl Casone highlighted recent testimony from former Biden White House spokesman Ian Sams.
Sams revealed that during more than two years serving in the Biden Administration, he met the president in person only twice, had one “zoom-style meeting,” and one phone call.
“Ex-Biden spokesman only saw the 46th president twice in two-plus years of service,” Casone said. “Chairman Comer also hinted at a subpoena for former Vice President Kamala Harris. They say her testimony would be incredibly helpful to unravel the autopen portion of the investigation.”
Gill seized on the revelation to criticize Biden’s inner circle and the media, as Trending Politics reported.
“These are the people who portrayed themselves as being in the know. Whenever all the American people watched Joe Biden on TV, we could see his cognitive decline. We saw his debate performance. We saw his eyes glazing over whenever reporters were asking him questions,” Gill said.
He accused the administration’s aides of misleading the public.
“The people who should have been around him, who portrayed themselves as knowing Biden’s actual mental state, actually had no clue what they were talking about, and instead lied to the American people,” he said.
Gill also slammed the media’s handling of Biden’s condition, calling it a coverup.
“It’s not just an indictment of the Biden administration and the people around him, but it’s also an indictment of Left-wing legacy media, who didn’t ask anybody if they had any evidence that Biden was actually as mentally acute as some of the people ostensibly around him were portraying it,” he said.
When asked directly if Harris should be subpoenaed, Gill responded unequivocally.
“I would like to see Kamala Harris subpoenaed. I think that she should have been close to Joe Biden more than most people, and I think she’s got a lot to answer for as well.”
The congressman emphasized that Harris’ testimony could shed light on the president’s cognitive capacity and the inner workings of the administration. He framed it as a matter of accountability.
“These are the people who claimed to be in the know, yet they failed the American people. It’s time for transparency and truth,” Gill said.
Sams’ testimony and the potential subpoena of Harris have intensified the scrutiny surrounding the administration’s claims about Biden’s mental fitness. The congressman pointed to discrepancies between what the public was told and the actual access staff had to the president.
Gill’s statements also reinforce broader GOP concerns about the Biden administration’s transparency. Republicans have repeatedly claimed that aides shielded the president from direct oversight and public accountability, leaving voters in the dark.
Congressional investigations into Biden’s cognitive state and the administration’s actions are ongoing, with Gill signaling that further hearings and subpoenas could be forthcoming. The request to subpoena Harris represents a significant escalation, putting the former vice president directly in the crosshairs of Capitol Hill inquiries.
With scrutiny mounting, Republicans are pushing for more testimony and documents to determine what aides knew about Biden’s cognitive condition and how that knowledge shaped decision-making during his administration.
Gill’s call for Harris to testify underscores the high stakes of the probe, promising more political fireworks in the weeks ahead.
