Most were not surprised to hear that far-right former Trump adviser and political commentator Kellyanne Conway and her husband George, the co-founder of the far-left Lincoln Project political action group, were divorcing.
Their oldest daughter, Claudia Conway, 18, shared her thoughts regarding the divorce and the attention it has garnered in the press.
Claudia, known as an outspoken, sharp-tongued teen who sought emancipation from her parents in 2020, reported that the excessive press coverage of her parent’s divorce was exacting a heavy toll.
On Tuesday, Claudia criticized the unduly intrusive media:
“For those asking how i am,” Caudia began, “i’m slaying per usual,” she tweeted.
Noting her belief that the media had sided against her mother, Claudia tweeted:
“Also why does the media love to tear women down … all these journalists hatefully commenting on another woman’s marriage are either divorced, will be single forever, or haven’t met their husband’s secretary yet.”
In response to a Twitter user who asked if she was relieved to see her parents separate following years of being at odds with each other politically, she wrote:
“I think everyone banks on having that picture-perfect ‘nuclear family’ but families come in all different structures so to put it simply, i love both of my parents and am excited for the new chapters of their lives that they are stepping into.”
On Saturday, George and Kellyanne shared they were “in the final stages of an amicable divorce.”
The Conways’ statement read:
“We married more than two decades ago, cherish the many happy years (and four corgis) we’ve shared, and above all else, our four incredible children, who remain the heartbeat of our family and our top priority.”
The statement concluded: “We remain united as parents to provide love, joy, comfort and protection to our beautiful children.”
