Singer Kid Rock appeared on Bill Maher‘s latest podcast, where the HBO host slammed the pushing of transgender issues and radical gender theory in schools. The singer then “welcomed” Maher to the “Republican Party.”
During a “Club Random with Bill Maher” podcast on Sunday, Maher told the 51-year-old singer, born Robert James Ritchie, that he would be considered a bad parent if he had kids now in school dealing with the transgender push.
“Okay, you want me to be accepting whatever of a dude dressing up like a girl,” Kid Rock explained. “Wanting to use the girls bathroom, cutting his dick off … but you got a problem, which is not proven to be true, but you got a problem with a guy who might’ve pissed on a hooker in Russia. Come on.”
Maher said since we “have no dissenting votes on this issue,” let’s “agree that what heals America more than anything is two people who have the acumen to figure out what they are not going to convince the other of.”
Later on, Maher revisited the topic of the gender identity debate and said that if he had kids in school he’d be a “very bad parent.”
“I would be a very bad parent right now,” the host shared. “Because I would fight. We would be very aligned on this, a lot of this. I would be a very bad parent because they would be doing things in the school that I didn’t think was appropriate.”
“Not from either side or point of view,” he added. “The subject itself. They are five. Can we just do blocks and the sky is blue before we get to drag queens? There’s levels of sophistication that are just–“
“Bill, welcome to the Republican Party,” Ritchie interjected while he held his hand out to the host to shake it.
Maher didn’t shake hands, saying that the singer must not be watching “Real Time with Bill Maher,” where he’s been making similar arguments for years.
“You don’t have to welcome me,” the HBO host added. “And by the way I don’t want to be in the Republican Party at all.”
Ritchie told him he could make a couple of calls, to which Maher replied, “Oh, I know the invite is there. I don’t want it. Pick another kid for your team.”
The two hour podcast was largely themed around both men calling for the need to find common ground in politics, and stop hating others just because you disagree with them.
