South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) is pushing back against a report that claimed she traveled to a GOP conference with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.
The story: Politico reported, citing two unnamed sources, that Noem was on Lindell’s private jet that flew to Nashville, Tennessee, last week for the Republican Governors Association conference.
It came after Lindell claimed that he was denied entry to the event.
Lindell had previously told the publication that he arrived at Nashville’s JW Marriott Hotel, obtained his credentials, and tried to join the 3-day-long conference but an event coordinator told him that he was not allowed at official RGA events.
This prompted him to leave Nashville earlier than planned.
RGA official later explained that Lindell tried to get into a dinner at the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion but was denied access because he is not an RGA member.
The latest Politico report says that Lindell “was able to gain access to the RGA meeting as a guest of Noem’s and as a prospective member” and that the governor had to look for an alternative after Lindell decided to leave the city before the conference has ended.
Noem’s response: A spokesperson for the governor rejected claims that Lindell was Noem’s guest or that she was forced to look for a way to return to South Dakota after Lindell was denied entry.
“Lindell was not a guest of Governor Noem’s at the conference. Neither did her travel plans change following the conference. Governor Noem follows the law and reimburses for flights when appropriate,” the spokesperson said.
The governor herself denied the report on Twitter, calling the report a “#FakeNews story.”
“Not true. No wonder the media has a lower approval rating than Congress. And the reporter REFUSED to correct his #FakeNews story,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Hasn’t the media learned not to report #FakeNews from anonymous sources?” she wrote in another post.
Lindell neither confirmed nor denied that Noem was on his private jet.
He told Politico he “is not revealing anybody who goes on my plane. I have people on my plane all the time and I don’t know who told you that. I’m not disclosing anything. … I’m not saying anything about it.”
“Anyone who ever is on my plane is highly confidential! I cannot comment on that or my planes flights … This is for security reasons[.] I have had many threats since I went public with the dominion and machine evidence,” he later added.
He also said the claim that he was a guest of Noem’s was false.
“I was not invited by her, I was invited by RGA and then they canceled it,” he told The Epoch Times.
