Vice Presidential pick JD Vance has been attacked by the left for family-related comments he made a few years ago, per the Post Millennial.
Vance, who was chosen by former President Donald Trump as his 2024 running mate, has had his words twisted around as a way to portray him as a s*xist.
“Why have we let the Democrat Party become controlled by people who don’t have children?” He asked. “There have always been people like that, who even though they would like to have kids, are unable to have them. Let’s set them aside.”
Several news media outlets ran headlines slamming Vance’s remarks. “Jennifer Aniston slams JD Vance over ‘childless cat ladies’ comment from resurfaced interview” was the headline NBC ran. MSNBC commented that “Jesus did not have children.”
The comments and headlines are speculated to show that Trump and Vance are against anyone who does not have a typical American family.
“I want to take aim at the left, specifically the childless left, because I think the rejection of the American family is perhaps the most pernicious and most evil thing the left has done in this country,” said Vance, who made the comments in question in 2021 during a speech at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
The speech was on the American Dream and how important family is to the American way of life and happiness.
He addressed his previous comments when asked by Tucker Carlson.
“What I was basically saying is that we’re effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”
The comment that had the left fuming was when he said, “When somebody calls out that ‘look, if you’re a miserable cat lady, you should not force your misery on the rest of the country,’ they just get really upset about it.” His comment appeared to be correct, with leftists such as Whoopi Goldberg and Jennifer Anniston condemning his remarks.
“It’s just a basic fact. Look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” he continued.
While Harris and her husband have been married for 10 years, they do not have children together. She is a stepmother to two children from his previous marriage. Buttigieg and his partner used adoption and surrogacy to create a family. AOC and her fiance also do not have children.
Vance also addressed the comments on the Megyn Kelly Show on Friday, telling Kelly that the Democratic Party has become “anti-family” and “anti-child.” He said that he is fighting for families, noting Harris’ anti-family policies, saying that “we should call it out.”
He told Kelly that the conversation started with his wife, who felt “pressured” to not have a third child and instead focus on her career.
