Another blue state sanctuary city mayor is crying crocodile tears about busloads of illegal aliens bused to their city by Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX).
Texas dispatched its 10th bus carrying migrants to Los Angeles Saturday, which transported 39 illegals, comprising 12 families with 21 children. This bus was dispatched five days after the ninth one.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass previously voiced concerns about Texas’ actions.
“It is abhorrent that an American elected official is using human beings as pawns in his cheap political games,” Bass said about Abbott in a June statement.
Bass condemned the latest busloads, especially when the ninth bus was sent during the time Tropical Storm Hilary was affecting the city.
“LA has not extended an invitation asking for people to come,” Bass said. “This is a political act.”
Yet, it seems the city did just that when the Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted in June to designate the city as a sanctuary for immigrants.
On a recent Tuesday, Bass once again expressed her dissatisfaction with Texas’ decision.
“This evening, Los Angeles received another bus from Texas,” the mayor X’d.
“That means that while we were urging Angelenos to stay safe, the Governor of Texas was sending a bus with families and toddlers straight towards us KNOWING they’d have to drive right into an unprecedented storm.”
“Evil,” she concluded her X post.
In response to the criticism, Abbott’s press secretary, Andrew Mahaleris, claimed all migrants signed a voluntary consent waiver before boarding the buses, according to a Fox News report.
“Bus drivers receive updated weather conditions along their routes and for their destination ahead of and while en route to the sanctuary cities,” Mahaleris said.
“Yesterday’s bus rerouted out of an abundance of caution and took a cautious path to Los Angeles to keep all on board safe. Migrants willingly chose to go to Los Angeles, having signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination,” continued the press secretary.
“And they were processed and released by the federal government, who are dumping them at historic levels in Texas border towns because of the Biden-made crisis.”
Mahaleris further noted that each bus is stocked with food and water and makes stops to refuel and switch drivers.
Abbott’s spokesman said illegals are allowed to purchase any needed provisions or disembark at any of these stops.
“Instead of complaining about Texas providing much-needed relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities, Bass needs to call on President Biden to step up and do his job to secure the border,” he said.
To date, Texas has transported over 30,000 migrants to Democratic-led cities across the nation, according to the Fox report.
