‘MAGA Republicans’ Sound Off After Being Called a Foundational Threat to America

President Joe Biden called the 74 million who voted for Donald Trump a “threat to the very soul of this country.” Republicans began to voice objection to the president’s characterization of them as enemies of the state.

The vitriol voiced by President Biden Thursday was delivered at a federal park, behind a wooden lectern emblazoned with the presidential seal. He was flanked by two U.S. Marines standing at attention in dress uniform and the U.S. Marine Corps band. The unspoken message accompanying his divisive words was that the full might and majesty of the United States of America will be brought to bear against perceived enemies — like Republicans.

The president’s speech was delivered outside Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. The Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were both debated and signed inside that building. Biden apparently wanted to contrast him speaking from the birthplace of democracy with Trump supporters whom he said “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

Biden gave himself a little wiggle room by saying he doesn’t mean all Republicans, just MAGA republicans. He sounded sure there are some such Republicans.

“I know because I’ve been able to work with these mainstream Republicans,” said Biden. He probably meant Republicans like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Mitt Romney. He may even include the Republican senators who helped pass his gun reform legislation earlier this year. That still leaves about 73 million uneasy people wondering if the government is going to bust open their front door at 5 a.m. before election day.

His inflammatory remarks came one day before the former president of Argentina, under investigation for corruption after announcing plans to run for her old office again, was the victim of an attempted assassin. The similarity of situations to former President Donald Trump is striking.

Aside from concerns the nation’s leader is using the power of the presidency to demonize his political opposition, many conservatives have expressed outrage over Biden’s comments.

“Standing in front of a hellish red background Biden called half the country, the MAGA Republicans ‘threats’ & ‘clear and present dangers,'” noted former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. “Then he says, ’empathy is the fuel of democracy-the willingness to see each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans…’!!!

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley called Biden a “divider in chief” in a Twitter post that retweeted Biden’s labeling of Republicans.

Biden’s official account doubled down on his speech saying, “You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-America.”

You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-America.

Florida Republican candidate Lavern Spicer refuted Biden: “I am a Black MAGA Republican. Joe Biden knows NOTHING about me.”

Given a bump in favorability numbers among Democrats in recent polling, the president may just be trolling the GOP while appealing to his base.

After all, it’s easier for Democrats to continue bashing Trump than it is to explain why grocery, gas and housing has skyrocketed during Biden’s administration.

Calling Donald Trump a devil and demonizing his supporters leaves little time for discussing the continuing surge as millions of illegal aliens invade the U.S. across the southern border.
