Former First Lady Michelle Obama and actress Sharon Stone joked about abortion, pregnancy and childbirth during a conversation about how society might operate differently if men were able to become pregnant.
Stone suggested access to abortion would look dramatically different if men could conceive children.
“If men could get pregnant, you could get an abortion from a vending machine,” Stone said.
The remark prompted laughter from Obama, who quickly joined in with her own hypothetical.
“There would be the birth-Olympics,” Obama said.
She joked that men would record themselves going into labor and publicly celebrate how much pain they endured.
Obama imagined men receiving recognition and trophies for childbirth.
“Well done, dude! Bob, you did that without an epidural!” she joked while imitating how men might congratulate one another.
Stone continued the bit by suggesting maternity leave would become something highly rewarded if men were the ones giving birth.
“Maternity leave would be when you got the bonus,” she said.
Obama’s brother, Craig Robinson, then attempted to move the conversation in another direction.
That prompted Obama to joke that men lose interest when conversations turn toward women’s experiences.
“This is why we don’t get help,” Obama said.
She jokingly characterized men as saying, “Well, I’m bored with this conversation. Let’s talk about sports.”
Stone responded sarcastically, saying, “Moving on!”
Robinson pushed back and said he had not tried to steer the conversation toward sports.
“I didn’t push the sports,” he said.
“Not yet,” Obama responded.
The former First Lady then laughed and told Stone they were only getting started.
“We were just getting started, weren’t we, Sharon?” Obama said.
The exchange came during a broader conversation about women’s health and medical care.
Earlier, Stone criticized what she described as a lack of information and research surrounding women’s health issues, per Breitbart News.
The actress specifically mentioned menstruation and tampon testing.
“No one told me, like, this is how you have your period, this is what a tampon — look, they didn’t test tampons on human blood until 2026,” Stone said.
The source noted that companies had historically used saline solution because it was cheaper, safer and easier to handle than biological fluids.
Stone also criticized what she described as inadequate medical research involving women.
“We didn’t do medical research on women OB-GYN really until the 2000s,” she said.
She then questioned current debates surrounding access to reproductive and OB-GYN care.
“And now we don’t want to give women care? OB-GYN care?” Stone asked.
Stone went further by claiming that women could face prosecution following miscarriages.
“We want to prosecute women for having a miscarriage! What kind of archaic bullshit is this?” she said.
The source challenged that characterization, noting that it did not identify an instance in which a woman was convicted solely for the medical fact of experiencing a miscarriage.
The conversation mixed jokes with broader criticism about women’s health care, reproductive policy and differences in how Stone and Obama believe society treats men and women.
The vending-machine remark was among the most provocative moments of the discussion.
Stone’s hypothetical immediately drew laughter from Obama, who expanded the joke into an imagined world where male pregnancy would become a celebrated competition.
The exchange ultimately turned into a satirical discussion of abortion access, childbirth, maternity leave and medical treatment.
Obama and Stone framed the hypothetical as a way of arguing that pregnancy and women’s health would receive different levels of attention if men experienced them directly.
