The warm place down below may have frozen over because a Conservative has the top-selling LGBTQ+ book on Amazon.
Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh’s book “Johnny the Walrus” is a story about a young boy with a wild imagination who begins to believe he is a walrus. His Progressive mother gets pressured by her friends on social media to help Johnny “transition” into his true identity as a walrus. Their demand presents the mother with the choice of protecting her son or pleasing her friends.
The book is probably not the take on the transgender agenda Progressives would like children to be taught but it does fall in the “LGBTQ+” category. LGBTQ+ advocates were horrified when Walsh’s book grabbed the number one spot on Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list early Tuesday, and soon became the site’s overall fourth best-selling book. The book’s rank has dropped to #1,221 but that is probably because the book sold out within hours of its release. Copies of “Johnny the Walrus” are now only available for preorder on the online retailer’s site.
The podcast host shared his bemusement with his Twitter followers. “Folks you have to admit this is all extremely funny,” Walsh posted on Twitter.
Reaction to his book’s wild success created a long-running source of amusement for the best-selling children’s book author. He posted a screen capture of one of the very few one-star reviews of his book.
“Written for people with deep insecurities,” the reviewer wrote. “Not a self help book for insecurities. A booster shot of foolishness, sure to deepen your insecurities.”
Walsh responded, “I am stunned by these bigoted one-star reviews attacking my number one bestselling LGBT book.”
The podcast host followed with other tongue-in-cheek remarks that probably acted like sandpaper on the souls of LGBTQ+ Progressive agenda supporters.
“Me becoming a number-one bestselling LGBT author is the twist no one saw coming,” he commented on Twitter.
“I now have the number one LGBT book in the country. Any further criticism of me or my book is now homophobic,” he concluded. “Checkmate.”
