New details about the shocking passing of “Friends” star Matthew Perry at the age of 54 have been revealed in his death certificate.
The certificate now reveals that Perry died at 4:17 p.m. in his California home, and his stepfather, “Dateline” Journalist Keith Morrison, 76, is listed as the informant who provided details for his death certificate.
The certificate also lists Perry’s occupation as an “actor” in the “entertainment” industry, which he had been since the late 1980’s.
Perry’s official cause of death is still unknown, as toxicology results are still pending, but initial reports found that he did not have meth or fentanyl in his system at the time of his death.
Perry was found by a bystander submerged in his hot tub, and was unresponsive by the time first responders arrived. The person who called 911 has not been identified, but TMZ reported that the bystander who found Perry was his assistant.
Former chief medical examiner of New York City Dr. Michael Baden noted in a Friday interview that the full toxicology report could already be completed.
“They’ve got pretty much 99% of what they’re going to get at this point as far as information goes, and they can release it now, or they can wait for a couple more weeks because they’re looking for some unknown drug,” Baden told Fox News. “They might be doing microscopic slides, but it’s now about almost two weeks, so the toxicology should be finished.”
On Nov. 3, the actor and author was laid to rest in a private funeral service for his family and friends. He was buried in the Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills, across from the location where the beloved NBC sitcom was filmed from 1994 to 2004.
Former “Friends” castmates Jennifer Aniston, 54, Lisa Kudrow, 60, Courteney Cox, 59, David Schwimmer, 57, and Matt LeBlanc, 56, were all in attendance.
The group also issued a joint statement several days after his passing.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,” they wrote. “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
