The recent death of Matthew Perry, noted “Friends” actor and best-selling author, took many by surprise and left many seeking additional information and answers.
RTM previously reported that Perry died on October 28. Initial reports were that he drowned and his body was found in a hot tub.
Local authorities report the cause of death is yet undetermined and that autopsy and toxicology reports are forthcoming.
On Wednesday, PageSix reported that 25-year-old model and entertainment reporter, Athenna Crosby, revealed that she was one of the last people to see Perry before he died.
On Tuesday Crosby posted: “I wasn’t going to speak about this but what I will say is I had the honor of knowing Matthew personally.”
Along with a black-and-white picture of her and Perry, Crosby wrote: “I am so devastated from his death but felt it was in poor taste to talk about it publicly as the attention should not be on me but rather on him and his legacy and he was an extremely private person and I always respected that in our friendship.”
Crosby added, “But indeed, we were friends and I was one of the last people to speak to him and see him before he passed.”
In a follow-up post, the Venezuelan beauty queen shared how the late actor was feeling during their lunch date last Friday at the Hotel Bel-Air.
“I want to emphasize that Matthew was in extremely good spirits and talked to me enthusiastically about the things he had coming up in his life. He was so happy and vibrant.”
Appearing to know more than she revealed, Crosby urged fans to “refrain from any speculation surrounding his death,” writing, “The entertainment industry has truly lost a legend. RIP.”
TMZ confirmed that Perry shared a lunch with Crosby a few days before his death.
PageSix reported the luncheon was “just 24 hours before the “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” author was found dead in his jacuzzi by his assistant at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.”
Perry was 54.
Officials told TMX that Perry’s death was not the result of fentanyl or meth and that no illegal drugs were found at his home though prescription drugs were.
Perry had recently written a memoir detailing his substance abuse battles. He was reportedly doing well in his recovery and wanted to inspire others to overcome.
