President Joe Biden must scrap military vaccine mandates to get his defense bill passed, the House minority leader said Sunday.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appeared on the Fox News program “Sunday Morning Futures” to discuss changes a Republican House majority will have.

Program host Maria Bartiromo asked McCarthy about a meeting he conducted last week with Biden. She asked the congressman specifically about military COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

“I laid out very clearly what the difference will be with the new Republican majority,” the California congressman commented. “We’ll work through the NDAA — the national defense bill — and we will secure lifting that vaccine mandate on our military.

“Because what we’re finding is, they’re kicking out men and women that have been serving,” McCarthy continued. “That’s the first victory of having a Republican majority, and we’d like to have more of those victories, and we should start moving those now.”

Bartiromo pressed the congressman expected to become the next House speaker about his commitment to repeal military vax mandates.

“You’re saying in the NDAA, which we’ll drop next week, the vaccine mandate for the military will be lifted,” she asked.

“Yes, it will. Otherwise, the bill will not move,” McCarthy said. “I’ve been very clear with the president.”

McCarthy added the compromise he proposed is a function of divided government. He noted there is a bipartisan effort to move forward with this, something unlikely to happen under one-party rule.

“And, now we’re going to have success,” he stated.

The congressman informed Bartiromo a new select committee to examine China will be formed if he becomes speaker as expected.

“We’re going to look at every single industry that China has us leveraged in,” McCarthy said. “We’re going to start bring the supply chain back from China.”

He opined it would be one of the best things people will see going forward.
