Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and others slammed the Girl Scouts of the USA for deleting its social media post congratulating Justice Amy Coney Barrett for becoming only the fifth woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

The Girl Scouts said they deleted the post because they didn’t want it to be a “political or partisan statement” but ultimately determined that it had been taken that way. “Girl Scouts of the USA is a non-political, nonpartisan organization. We are neither red nor blue, but Girl Scout GREEN. We are here to lift up girls and women,” said the organization.

Kelly wasn’t having it and proceeded to call out the Girl Scouts for its decision.

“This is pathetic [Girl Scouts]. It’s not ‘partisan’ to generically congratulate the 5th woman ever to join the High Court. It’s patriotic. Taking your tweet down *is* partisan, however, and a real disappointment,” tweeted Kelly.

As Kelly noted, the original Girl Scouts congratulations wasn’t partisan. Rather it was a generic tweet both honoring Barrett for reaching the Supreme Court and the other female justices who joined the court in years past. It featured a photo of Barrett, along with a photo of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, retired Sandra Day O’Connor, and the three sitting female justices, and read simply: “Congratulations Amy Coney Barrett on becoming the fifth woman appointed to the Supreme Court since its inception in 1789.”

Other right-leaning and conservative political commentators also weighed in on the Girl Scouts’ decision to delete the post congratulating Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Federalist co-founder Sean Davis tweeted: “Awesome job teaching girls to cower before the mob. What an example you’ve set for them. Consider this your reminder that Girl Scouts is little more than a front for a wildly profitable cookie company that uses unpaid child labor to move product.”
