SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly called Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a “chicken” for not agreeing to be interviewed on her show.
Kelly summarized her feelings on the 2024 presidential race by noting that Trump “oozes charisma,” DeSantis “seems wooden,” and that DeSantis may be a good candidate later, but not now as it is “Trump’s turn.
The SirusXM host also criticized DeSantis for announcing his candidacy on Twitter, rather than on a news platform. Though the governor’s announcement on Twitter garnered millions of views and millions in donations, Kelly depicted it as a “disaster,” saying:
“It was embarrassing and awkward and had the bewildering, unsteadying feel of a disaster unfolding before your very eyes. You can’t look away, and yet you’re viscerally uncomfortable watching too.”
Kelly added: “He made the announcement on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk and our pal David Sacks. Kudos to all involved for choosing a different medium and bypassing the mainstream media, which hates DeSantis and which is *hated* by most Republican voters.”
After criticizing DeSantis for being in “duck and cover” mode and avoiding interviews where he would be asked “tough questions,” Kelly baited DeSantis by telling him to “be a man,” “grow a pair,” and come on her show.
After calling DeSantis a “chicken,” the former Fox News host said she had been in touch with the DeSantis team but seemed surprised she had not received a positive response to her request for an interview.
“Grow a pair. Like, come on for an adversarial interview with somebody who is going to ask you some tough questions. Be a man. I’m sick of the duck and cover drill that he’s doing only with friendly media,” Kelly said.
