Vandals broke into Rep. Debbie Dingell’s Michigan office, and trashed some items belonging to her deceased husband, the congresswoman said on Monday.

Dingell, a Democrat who made headlines for a shouting match with Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on the steps of the Capitol in September, told The Detroit Free Press that a plate glass window and objects on the walls in the Dearborn office were smashed.

The office had previously been used by her husband John Dingell, who preceded her in Congress, the newspaper stated.

“I’m deeply concerned about the break-in & vandalization of my Dearborn office today,” she said on Twitter. “Our door & windows were smashed & memorability – especially John’s items – was broken.”

No one was hurt but she said “we must also recognize the impact attacks like this one & constant threats have had on my staff & all Congressional staff.

“The motive for today’s incident is unclear, but what I can tell you is that the disrespect, violence & division need to end in this country,” she said. “We need to practice civility and kindness, not divisiveness and anger.

She went on to say her office has been receiving threats “for months” and they are being taken seriously.

“This vandalization really hits home,” she said. “Regardless of if your views differ from mine or from your neighbor’s, we need to learn to hear each other out & work together to solve the issues facing our nation.”

The US Capitol Police and Dearborn police are working with her staff to find who is responsible, she added.
