El País reported his body was discovered in a suitcase in Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires. The New York Post noted that Algaba lived in Barcelona, Spain, and reportedly stayed in Argentina for about a week before his murder.
Police report Algaba was shot at least three times. A murder investigation is underway.
Two children who found the abandoned suitcase near a stream made the grim discovery. According to reports from local authorities, the remains were identified as Algaba through his fingerprints and tattoos.
Algaba hailed from a humble background and rose to wealth through strategic investments in cryptocurrency and the stock market.
Several years ago, he told his followers: “I started with a bicycle and a box, and I started selling sandwiches.” Algaba reportedly went on to find success buying vehicles to repair and resell.
He lived a lavish lifestyle and was known for his Instagram posts showcasing high-end cars and exclusive parties.
The investor frequently imparted financial advice to his 900,000 followers on Instagram.
Just before his death, Algaba posted cryptic messages about “evil people” on his social media accounts.
One suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder, authorities confirmed. The police are investigating rumors of Algaba’s significant debts, which, if true, may have ties to his murder.
