X CEO and tech mogul Elon Musk is calling on King Charles of England to dissolve parliament and order a general election.
Musk’s request comes amid his war with the U.K.’s Labour Party and the country’s handling of grooming gangs, according to the Daily Mail.
Musk has inserted his name into U.K. politics after the country’s government declined to pursue an investigation into gangs of British Asian men targeting underage girls in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Musk has echoed the concerns shared by the Reform Party and conservative politicians in the U.K., who have called for a probe into grooming gangs.
On X, Musk issued a scathing rebuke of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his failure to go after these gangs.
The X CEO replied to a comment that asked whether Charles “should dissolve parliament and order a General Election… for the sake and security” of Great Britain.
In response, Musk said, “Yes.”
U.K. Health Minister Andrew Gwynne responded to Musk’s comments by saying that the X CEO should solely focus on issues in the U.S.; not England.
“Elon Musk is an American citizen and perhaps ought to focus on issues on the other side of the Atlantic,” the Labour minister said.
“But look, the grooming issue is a very serious issue. We’ve already had inquiries into Telford, into Rotherham, we’ve had a local inquiry commissioned by Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, into the situation here in Greater Manchester, which includes Oldham,” he added. “We’ve had the national child s*xual exploitation inquiry in 2022 which the Government is seriously considering, there is a long list of recommendations that was made.”
“There comes a point where we don’t need more inquiries, and had Elon Musk really paid attention to what’s been going on in this country, he might have recognised that there have already been inquiries,” he continued.
“What we need is justice for the victims, and we need to make sure that the criminal justice system follows up and make sure that these atrocious things are never able to happen again,” Gwynne said.
According to the Daily Mail, if King Charles dissolves parliament just months after citizens of U.K. voted for their government leaders, a constitutional crisis could arise.
Musk’s criticism of the U.K. government is focused on its weak response toward the violence committed by rape gangs across the country.
Musk even went as far as to call for the arrest of Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips after she denied requests for the Home Office to probe child s*xual exploitation in Oldham.
“I believe it is for Oldham Council alone to decide to commission an inquiry into child s*xual exploitation locally, rather than for the Government to intervene,” Phillips said.
In response, Musk said, “She deserves to be in prison.”
Musk also blamed the prime minister for the government’s weak response.
“In the UK, serious crimes such as rape require the Crown Prosecution Service’s approval for the police to charge suspects,” Musk said. “Who was the head of the CPS when rape gangs were allowed to exploit young girls without facing justice? Keir Starmer, 2008-2013.”
