In a shocking revelation, The Daily Wire has obtained images from the private journal of the Covenant School shooter, which provide a disturbing glimpse into her mental state and potential motives for the horrific attack that took place in March 2023.
The handwritten journal entries, which have been hidden from the public for over a year, reveal the shooter’s deep-seated anger and frustration over her gender identity, as well as her disdain for Christianity and her parents’ alleged attempts to maintain religion in her life.
The most striking entry, titled “My Imaginary Penis,” spans three pages and delves into the shooter’s fixation on her desire to be a man. She fantasizes about having a penis and laments the fact that so-called gender-affirming treatments were not available to her during her childhood.
“I want to know what that’s like, but I never will because I was damned to be born this way,” she writes, expressing her hatred for her situation.
The journal entries also reveal the shooter’s anger towards her parents and their Christianity, which she believes stood in the way of her ability to change genders.
“It’s total ignorance when parents step in and try to change their child’s environment,” she added, criticizing parents who force their children to attend youth groups and maintain Christian friendships.
Throughout the entries, the shooter expresses a deep sense of resentment and anger towards her upbringing and the perceived limitations placed on her ability to express her gender identity. She describes living through the “torture of being raised a girl” and blames her mother and “people in this world” for not accepting her desire to change genders.
As previously reported, Hale also attributed her emotional instability to her skin colour, writing “with nothingness” in all capital letters, drawing arrows to a paragraph about her life. She wrote, “My parents aren’t rich. They work hard for [their] money so I didn’t end up homeless. Yet I still feel bad,” after stating that “poor people resent this sh*t.”
In addition, Hale drew a flow chart that linked the concept of the “brain” to notions of white privilege and shame. In the diagram, she labeled herself as “no one.” She expressed the sentiment, “It’s preferable to be ordinary and have companionship. The brightest individuals endure the greatest hardships and are the most disconnected from everything they hold dear.”
The shooter’s fixation on gender identity and anger towards Christianity raise questions about the official narrative surrounding the attack, which has largely downplayed the role of these factors in her motivation. The newly obtained journal entries suggest that the shooter’s gender dysphoria and disdain for religion may have played a more significant role than previously acknowledged.
The release of these journal entries comes amidst a broader controversy surrounding the lack of transparency in the investigation into the Covenant School shooting. For over a year, there has been a near-total lockdown on materials related to the shooter, with only a few pages of her writings being released to the public.
This blackout appears to be due, in part, to a memo by the FBI, which warned Nashville police that releasing the shooter’s writings could result in “false narratives” and “unintended consequences” for vulnerable populations. However, critics argue that the lack of transparency has only fueled speculation and hindered efforts to understand the shooter’s motives and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
