A freelance writer is being skewered after her review titled “A Taste for Cannabilism?” was published by the New York Times.

The wittily worded Blazemedia report suggested writer Alex Beggs and the Times advocated cannibalism. The report claimed the writer and paper suggested “cannibalism has a time and a place” and that current media suggests that now is the time to eat your fellow human.

“The eye-raising article was flayed on Twitter for even suggesting that people eat people,” the Blaze reported.

Only one problem: it is not true. She talked about the genre of media focused on cannibals using certain books and movies to illustrate her points.

The article by Beggs began by describing how author Chelsea G. Summers got the inspiration for her book, “A Certain Hunger,” about a restaurant critic with a taste for human flesh. Preferably male flesh.

“Turns out, cannibalism has a time and a place,” Beggs segued to discuss the genre of cannibalism. “In the pages of some recent stomach-churning books, and on television and film screens, Ms. Summers and others suggest that that time is now.”

The following three paragraphs of her article briefly describe three novels that include cannibalism: “Yellowjackets,” “Lapvona” and “Bones and All.”

As the Blaze report noted, many Twitter users slammed her for advocating the horrific practice of eating human flesh. The subject is so out there that people still make jokes about maitre d’hotel’s calling for “Donner party, table for one” about an event that happened in the 1840s. Beggs could accuse some of the Twitterati who (figuratively) put a foot in their mouth of committing literary cannabilism.

CEO Zack Kanter blasted the review saying, “A zero sum worldview, irrational fear of overpopulation, and hatred of success will inevitably lead NYT journos to the literal conclusion of ‘eat the rich.’”

“The NY Times: ‘Cannibalism has a time and a place’. The Left is a tragedy that keeps on giving,” commented CEO Sridhar Vembu. “What would they attempt to normalize next?”

Journalist Sameera Khan: “This is Satanism.”

“NYT looking hire known cannibal Reza Aslan,” remarked journalist Tim Poole.
