Kerry Sanders, a long-time correspondent with NBC News, announced his retirement on Tuesday. He has served with NBC for 32 years.
The staff at “Today” honored Sanders with a video profiling his decades with the network.
Co-host Savannah Guthrie provided a voiceover for the video.
Directly addressing Sanders in the video, Guthrie said, “You have brightened our mornings Kerry, on-screen and off, and we cannot let you go without celebrating your many, many highlights.”
The TODAY Twitter account tweeted:
“Since 1991, @KerryNBC has been fearlessly reporting on stories around the planet. Now, he is announcing his retirement, and we’re celebrating his amazing career. You have brightened our mornings for 32 years — thank you, Kerry Sanders!
Guthrie was generous in her praise of Sanders, referring to her co-host as a “superhero” who had an “illustrious career.”
“If you’ve heard of the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ that sums up Kerry’s illustrious career,” Guthrie said. Sanders’ co-host later referred to Kerry as “NBC’s resident superhero,” telling fans that “he pushed the envelope, keeping us all glued.”
Guthrie added: “He joined team NBC in 1991 but never lost that eagerness, heart, and curiosity. From his first to his very last live shot, it was always clear; he loved every minute of it. Thank you, Kerry, for a job well done.”
Sanders was touched by the kind words, saying, “I still pinch myself to think that you all welcomed me and that I was a part of this. It’s been a dream come true.”
