Cameron Weiss, an agent for athletes, is dead, according to an annoucement from the company he founded in 2019.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Cameron Weiss, our dear friend and business partner,” noted a post to Dynamic Sports Group’s Instagrams.
“Cameron was a remarkable individual who touched and impacted the lives of so many,” the company statement continued. “His decision, passion and unwavering commitment to his family, friends and clients will always be remembered. He will be greatly missed.”
The death of Weiss, 38, followed a prolonged fight against cancer, the NFL Network reported.
Dynamic Sports Group stated Weiss’ legacy will live on as it continues to serve its family of clients as he would have. The company statement offered thoughts and prayers to his family and close friends.
Weiss’ agency represents several prominent NFL players, including Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler and Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott.
The agency also has several professional soccer and baseball players under its banner and notably represented Michael Sam.
“Only one agent ever reached out to me coming out of college,” Ekeler said in a tribute to Weiss. “Since then you’ve been like a brother to me. You will always live on in my story. Rest in peace to a real one.”
The sports community has been vocal in expressing their sorrow on the social media platform, X.
“Sad day,” remarked Miami Dolphins cornerback Elijah Campbell. “He was a great human being and left us too early. Rest in peace Cam.”
B.C. Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., commented, “Rest In Peace to my brother. More than an agent & was one of the best ones out there. My condolences to all his loved ones.”
“Got close to Cameron in 2019 when I was at the XFL.,” said Eric Galko. “Saw first hand which agents really cared about their players no matter what and whether or not they were in the NFL. Cameron was one of them.”
“Cameron loved his job, cared deeply about all of his players, and was one of the most enjoyable to talk to about football or anything else,” added Galko. “Condolences to his family and friends.”
“I know I’ll be one of many to miss him dearly.”
