North Carolina GOP Makes Request to Inspect 2020 Election

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina are reportedly looking to get some answers regarding the state’s vote-counting machines from the North Carolina Board of Elections.

The story: Some GOP lawmakers in the state have reportedly asked the Board of Elections to allow for an investigation into vote-tabulating machines to see if there are any points of concern and clear some uncertainties, said state Rep. Jeff McNeely.

McNeely cited “rumors” surrounding the election process and the machines used to count votes as the reason behind the GOP’s push to probe the matter.

“We are just trying to see if there are any legs to the rumors we hear about ballots and machines, we want to know if there is anything that could have been changed by the machines, we gave them a deadline to get back to us,” he said of the North Carolina Board of Elections.

“I believe the information in what we call the ‘hand to eye audits’ needs to be public, and we need to make sure those tallies match what the machines came up with, currently they are not public and they should be,” McNeely told the Gateway Pundit.

In a statement posted to Facebook last week, Rep. Keith Kidwell explained that they asked the board to give Republicans access to machines to ensure that if they made modems, they are deactivated to a point where “they cannot be reactivated.” They also want to know the types of modems that are in the machines.

“We want our own technicians to examine and they are going to get back to us,” Kidwell said.

The lawmaker also mentioned that they want to film the inspection of the machines.

He revealed that the House Freedom Caucus spoke with two members of the Board of Election and asked them about some concerns. Kidwell said they were “unable to answer” some of the questions but are expected to get back to them.

In the video, Kidwell summarizes the interviews with the Board of Election members and explains some of the answers they did provide.

Worth noting: McNeely also noted that lawmakers plan to introduce legislation to ensure donations to pay poll workers, pay for polling place rentals, and in the case of last year, personal protective equipment, is sent to all counties in North Carolina.

McNeely specifically mentioned Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, who along with his wife Priscilla Chan, made several donations, including in North Carolina, to help local governments fund the U.S. elections. He pointed to what he described as a lack of transparency regarding the money trail.

“We know that Mark Zuckerberg gave 5-6 Million dollars to counties in North Carolina, but we don’t have an accounting on that. We are working on a bill that would make it law to evenly distribute that money to our 100 counties. But as it is now, we do not know where that money went or what it went for,” the Republican lawmaker said.
