On November 1, Actor Alan Ruck was in a near fatal automobile accident in Los Angeles. The actor’s Rivian R1T Truck crashed into a pizza parlor — half of the truck pierced the wall of the building.
The “Ferris Bueller” and “Succession” star was not seriously injured in the significant impact.
On Tuesday, Los Angeles Police announced the cause of the accident may have been “due to an issue with technology,” according to the Daily Caller.
Video of the incident, obtained by TMZ, appears to indicate that a technical failure resulted in Ruck’s being unable to control the vehicle. Witnesses reported they did not believe the driver was distracted, intoxicated or under the influence in any way.
Police have corroborated that assessment.
Ruck’s expensive electric truck featured three all-wheel drive systems; Dual Motor, Performance Dual-Motor, and Quad-Moto. Experts note that depending on which setting and driving mode is selected, the truck can lurch forward at great speed.
TMZ previously reported that Ruck stated he had “no idea what led to the collision.”
Officially, the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but at this time police officials deem the incident an accident. The truck is being inspected for signs of a technical malfunction.
