Oprah Winfrey Suggested as Potential Replacement for Feinstein

Reports indicate that the top brass of California politics are considering an unlikely individual to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein should she be unable to complete her term.

Former TV host and entrepreneur Oprah Winfrey has reportedly been floated in political circles as a prospective replacement for Feinstein.

In recent years, Feinstein’s health and mental acuity has fallen under rising scrutiny, with many members of Feinstein’s own party calling on the gray lady to step down.

These issues only intensified during Feinstein’s over two-month absence from the hallowed halls of Congress while she fought a nasty case of shingles.

Earlier this month, Feinstein returned to Congress, sitting on her wheelchair, likened to a burnished throne, while she appeared confused, providing further ammunition to critics who would wish to see her step down.

Further contributing to concerns about her health was the recent revelation that Feinstein was afflicted with encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain which often results in cognitive impairment.

If the current senator were to resign, it would fall upon the governor of California to appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of Feinstein’s term.

And according to the Associated Press, party insiders have identified one household name outside of politics as a desirable option to stand in for the aging lady: Oprah Winfrey, who needs no introduction as the host of her eponymous talk show, publisher of her eponymous magazine and wildly successful entrepreneur — and, perhaps in the near future, member of Congress.

If Winfrey were to take over Feinstein’s Senate seat, it may come as a relief to numerous Democrats, many of whom would likely be pleased to see the decrepit caucasian replaced by the telegenic woman of color.

However, as things stand, Feinstein is stubbornly committed to finishing the remainder of her term.

Regardless of the wishes of Democratic party insiders, Feinstein retains the sole power to decide how she should proceed until the end of her term in 2025, unless she becomes severely incapacitated — a prospect which seems increasingly plausible as her health troubles continue to accumulate.
