House Conservatives Call on Minority Leader to Oust Nancy Pelosi

Pelosi exercised her veto power – which was outlined in the House-passed legislation that formed the committee – because the pair “made statements and took actions that just made it ridiculous to put them on such a committee seeking the truth,” she said Thursday.

“Monday evening, the Minority Leader recommended 5 Members to serve on the Select Committee. I have spoken with him this morning about the objections raised about Representatives Jim Banks and Jim Jordan and the impact their appointments may have on the integrity of the investigation,” Pelosi said in a statement.

“I also informed him that I was prepared to appoint Representatives Rodney Davis, Kelly Armstrong and Troy Nehls, and requested that he recommend two other Members.”

McCarthy bashed the move as unprecedented and fiercely defended Banks and Jordan. He decided to pull his other picks from the committee and boycott the panel altogether, though Pelosi said the committee’s work will still proceed as planned without McCarthy’s members.

“This is a sham committee that’s just politically driven by Speaker Pelosi,” McCarthy said Thursday.
