Peter Doocy and his wife, Hillary Vaughn, announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, on Thursday morning. Peter serves as a conservative White House correspondent with Fox News and is well known for asking tough questions to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Peter announced the birth on Twitter — she was born on Feb 1.
With a sense of humor, he asked President Joe Biden for “tips” on being a father.
Doocy’s birth announcement read: “Meet Bridget Blake Doocy! Asked @joebiden for tips about being a new dad, at the WH holiday reception. His advice: ‘hold her tight.’ Will do!”
Doocy and Vaughn announced they were expecting, during a September broadcast of “Fox & Friends.” Interestingly, Doocy’s father, Fox News anchor Steve Doocy, appeared as a guest on the same show, sharing recipes from his cookbook.
During the broadcast, Vaughn joked that she was “eating for two” and then announced the birth while showing a recent ultrasound picture.
Doocy and Vaughn were married in a private ceremony in South Carolina in 2021.
Playing on Doocy’s sense of humor, during a Jan. 3 White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre teased that Peter should name his daughter after her. The press room erupted into laughter.
“I thought you were gonna ask for my okay to name your daughter Karine. I thought that’s where we were going here,” Jean-Pierre joked.
Doocy quipped a reply: “Josephina,” evidently after President Joe Biden.
“I know, I know. I think Karine sounds just as good, too,” Jean-Pierre bantered back, enjoying the break in the traditionally adversarial relationship.
Doocy replied with a smile: “Okay, we’ll take it under advisement.”
Fox News reported that Doocy’s birth announcement follows similar recent statements from news desk personalities. “Outnumbered” co-host Kayleigh McEnany announced the birth of her son in December, and Jesse Watters, co-anchor of “The Five,” announced that he and his wife, Emma DiGiovine, are expecting in April.
