In the twilight hours at a small mountain town in Idaho, the local police discovered a scene of unspeakable horror: bodies of a pregnant 33-year-old mother and her 2-year-old son discovered motionless and cold in their home on Wednesday.
The cadavers belonged to Elizabeth Lawley and her toddler, both decorated with ugly gunshot wounds. Though the incident remains under investigation, the preliminary report suggests that Lawley herself was the agent of this grisly deed, supposedly taking her child’s life before subsequently taking her own.
“Speaking honestly, in my 19 years of service for Shoshone County, I’ve never seen the SCSO so somber, so devastated; we shared a lot of hugs, and we shared a lot of tears. Today was an extremely difficult day for the family, for our office, and for this community. And I can only imagine what the family is going through,” said Shoeshone County Sheriff Holly Lindsey in a statement on Facebook.
“As the Sheriff, I’m obligated to share the news with the citizens of Shoshone County, but I can’t in good conscience put the family through any more pain by reporting on this incident any further, so this will be our last comment pertaining to this tragedy,” Lindsey added.
Adding further to the depravity of this situation, Lawley was reportedly several months pregnant, carrying the promise of new life in her womb — the child, who will never breathe air or see sunlight, aborted by the senseless violence on the mother’s life.
“I may just be sleep deprived, but I can’t stop thinking about how precious life is. Kiss your spouse, hug your children, call your parents and your sibling(s) to check in with them–don’t take any of it for granted…not even for a minute,” Sheriff Lindsey said.
