More details about the the death of 28-year-old Jansen Panettiere were revealed by Orangetown, New York, police in a report.
The police report, which Fox News received a copy of, indicated officers responded to Panettiere’s Nyack apartment around 5 p.m. Sunday. They were dispatched by 911, which received a report of an “unresponsive male with CPR in progress,” according to police.
Panettiere’s friend Benjamin Brown was performing CPR on the actor when officers arrived on scene, the report noted. The brother of actress Hayden Panettiere was lying supine upon his living room floor. He did not show signs of breathing and was cold to the touch with lividity, police said.
A responding Emergency Medical Technician pronounced Panettiere dead at 5:11 p.m., according to the report.
Brown told first responders he arrived at the apartment after Panettiere was a no-show for a scheduled business meeting. Brown informed authorities he became concerned after the actor missed their meeting, so he went to his apartment.
Upon his arrival at the apartment, Brown claimed he saw Panettiere sitting upright in a chair and was unresponsive. He then called 911, according to the Fox report.
Panettiere’s father Alan also responded to his son’s apartment, telling police he spoke on the telephone the previous evening with his son, who “sounded okay.”
Police redacted about five subsequent lines from the report provided in response to a FOIL request, according to the Fox report.
No obvious signs of trauma were detected by police, according to their report. A cause of death has not yet been released.
Panettiere followed in the footsteps of his sister, who is five years younger, by pursuing a career in acting. He has appeared in the AMC hit series “The Walking Dead,” “Even Stevens” and “Perfect Game.”
The brother and sister worked together in the 2004 production “Tiger Cruise” and again, the following year, in “Racing Stripes.”
