Twin City Foods Inc. of Stanwood, Washington, voluntarily recalled some Not-Ready-To Eat Individually Quick Frozen Super Sweet Cut Corn and Mixed Vegetables in retail bags, due to potential bacteria contamination.
The recall is based on one customer’s third-party lab results for IQF sweet cut corn, which indicated the finished products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
There have been no reports of illness or any other complaints linked to the product, the FDA noted.
The products in question were distributed to Food Lion and Kroger stores across the nation, according to Twin City Foods.
Consumers have been advised not to consume the products. The FDA recommends purchasers return recalled items to the store from where they were purchased for a full refund.
Listeria infection, while mild for healthy individuals, can cause symptoms like high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Young children, the elderly and those with immuno-compromised individuals are particularly vulnerable to listeria, the FDA noted. There is a potential for pregnant women to have a miscarriage or stillbirth.
Recalled vegetables carry best-used-by dates ranging between February 2024 and January 2025, according to information supplied by the manufacturer and released by the FDA.
