Prince William recently voiced his appreciation for the widespread support his family has received in the wake of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
At an event for London’s Air Ambulance Charity, the Prince of Wales alongside Tom Cruise, a well-known ally of the royal family, conveyed his gratitude.
“I really appreciate everyone’s kindness,” he stated. The announcement of King Charles III’s diagnosis came from Buckingham Palace, revealing that the king is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

In March 2020, Prince William took on the role of Patron for London’s Air Ambulance Charity, following his involvement in their 30th Anniversary Campaign. His prior experience includes serving as an air ambulance pilot for the East Anglia Air Ambulance between 2015 and 2017. The Prince and Princess of Wales humorously acknowledged Cruise’s presence at the charity event in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Fancy seeing you here, @TomCruise!” They also praised the air ambulance service, stating, “Celebrating the heroes of the @LDNairamb. Their speed, expertise and unwavering dedication makes the city safer.”
Following the disclosure of his father’s illness, Prince William resumed his royal duties, marking his first public engagement since the announcement and since Kate Middleton’s planned abdominal surgery. At Windsor Castle, he hosted an investiture ceremony to honor remarkable achievements, where recipients were recognized with orders of chivalry and merit.
Patricia Spruce, a nurse who received an MBE at the ceremony, recounted her interaction with Prince William. “Prince William said that Katherine had two Filipino nurses looking after her and they were amazing and kind,” she shared on LinkedIn.
Buckingham Palace recently disclosed that during a procedure for a “benign prostate enlargement” at the London Clinic, a “separate issue of concern” was identified, leading to the diagnosis of cancer. The palace has advised King Charles to limit public engagements as he undergoes “regular treatments.” The specific type of cancer has not been disclosed.
Prior to the public announcement of his condition, King Charles informed his children and siblings about his diagnosis, as reported by People magazine. Prince Harry visited his father from California following the news. King Charles made a public appearance at St. Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham, alongside Queen Camilla, just before revealing his diagnosis.
On January 17, King Charles III underwent a “corrective procedure” for his enlarged prostate, which was reported to be successful. “His Majesty is doing quite well,” a royal source informed Fox News Digital.
Kate Middleton has returned home after a hospital stay for abdominal surgery, with Kensington Palace stating she is “making good progress.” The Prince and Princess of Wales expressed their gratitude for the care provided by The London Clinic, particularly praising the nursing staff. Kate is expected to resume her public duties by Easter, following her doctors’ advice.
