Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R) recently provided an update on his son Andrew’s ongoing battle with an unidentified illness.
Andrew is currently hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where doctors are conducting tests to determine the cause of his condition.
Mullin shared that Andrew had to undergo two medical procedures as part of the diagnostic process.
In a video post, Andrew expressed a wish to be fully sedated during the procedures, but the Mayo Clinic denied this request.
Earlier this week, the senator also revealed that several members of his family, including himself, are facing health challenges at the same time.
Mullin had eye surgery on April 11.
His wife, Christie, underwent major knee reconstructive surgery just days before that. On the same day as Mullin’s eye surgery, his mother suffered a stroke. He noted that both his mother and himself are recovering well.
However, Andrew’s health issues have proven to be the most difficult for the family.
“Andrew has been dealing with something a little different since January,” Mullin said in a video posted on Tuesday. He stood beside Andrew as he spoke about the situation.
Andrew described how he experienced severe side pain during a practice session at the University of Oklahoma, which led him to visit the emergency room for evaluation, according to Trending Politics.
He revealed that fluid had accumulated in his lungs and that doctors had identified several growth spots that appeared to worsen over time.
Since the initial video update, Mullin has been sharing frequent updates about his family’s health on social media, sometimes daily or more.
On the day following his first update, Mullin announced that the Mayo Clinic had ruled out cancer as a cause for the growth spots in Andrew’s lungs.
A spokesperson for Mullin told Fox News Digital that Mullin is currently at the Mayo Clinic supporting Andrew as he undergoes extensive testing.
They emphasized the senator’s clear priorities: “God, Family, and everybody else.”
Mullin expressed gratitude to the public for their prayers and support during this difficult period for his family.
This is not the first time Mullin’s family has faced serious health challenges. In 2020, his other son, Jim, suffered a near-fatal head injury while wrestling.
At that time, Jim’s pulse was faint, and he was airlifted to a hospital in Tulsa for emergency care.
President Donald Trump reached out to Mullin after learning about Jim’s injury and maintained contact throughout his recovery.
Mullin shared that Jim spent 18 months in rehabilitation following the injury.
He recalled that Trump called every week during that period, flew to Bakersfield, California, to visit Jim, and even offered financial assistance, which the family declined.
According to Mullin, Trump continues to ask about Jim’s progress every time they speak.
Mullin’s current focus remains on supporting his son Andrew through the mystery illness.
