Circumstantial evidence continues to mount in the horrific murder case in which prosecutors accuse Brian Walshe of murdering his wife, Ana in the early morning hours of Jan.1. Ana was a real estate executive in Quincy, Massachusetts, and the mother of three children.

Brian allegedly beat his wife to death, then discarded the body in a dumpster. Prosecutors disclosed new details in the case during Wednesday’s arraignment.

Though Ana’s body has not been located, prosecutors are moving forward with the murder case based on the following pieces of circumstantial evidence:

  • Brian reportedly used his son’s iPad to search for how to dispose of a body. Search topics also included how long before a body starts to smell, how to stop a body from decomposing, how to dispose of a body, how to throw away body parts, and how long DNA lasts, according to a report by Fox News.
  • Prosecutors noted that Brian was in possession of 10 garbage bags that included “a hacksaw, hatchet, bloody clothes, bloody rugs” and several of Ana’s personal belongings, including her COVID-19 vaccination card and what may be part of her necklace.
  • Prosecutors report that Ana’s blood was found on some of the garbage bags noted above.
  • Prosecutors allege that Brian drove to an apartment complex 30 minutes from his home and put in a dumpster “what appeared to be a heavy garbage bag.” Prosecutor Lynn Beland reported that the dumpster’s contents were “picked up and taken to a location for shredding and incinerating. By the time police located them, they were already destroyed.”
  • Days before Ana’s disappearance, Brian initiated an online search for information on what state is best for divorce.
  • The day after Ana’s disappearance, Brian purchased three rugs at a HomeGoods store approximately eight miles from his home. Prosecutors also noted that later that day, Brian reportedly initiated online searches seeking information on whether a hacksaw is the best tool to dismember, can a person be charged with murder without a body, can you identify a body with broken teeth, the rate of decomposition of a body in a plastic bag, and can baking soda make a [decomposing] body smell good.

Ana was reported missing on Jan. 4 — 3 days after her disappearance. When Investigators asked Brian about his whereabouts during that time frame, he reportedly misled police. Police placed Brian in custody on Jan. 8.

Attorneys representing Brian have entered a plea of not guilty. He is being held without bail. A status hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9.
