The father and sister of a transgender Instagram model were reportedly brutally attacked in a New York City home following an “argument over a laptop,” prosecutors said Monday.
The transgender model, Nikki Secondino, 22, has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez reported that Carlo Secondino, 61, was murdered, and his daughter Liana, 19, was seriously wounded in the Dec. 29 attack.
If convicted, Nikki could face life in prison.
An excerpt from a statement from District Attorney Gonzalez reads:
“This defendant is charged with brutally killing her own father and then stabbing her younger sister, allegedly following an argument over a laptop,” according to the New York Post. “My office will vigorously prosecute this horrific case and seek justice for the victims.”
WNBC reported that prosecutors claim Nikki Secondino “snapped” after years of family turmoil, and the now-deceased Carlo Secondino told Nikki to move out of the house within 30 days.
The six-count indictment notes that Nikki admitted to coming out of a bedroom around 5:20 a.m., saw Carlo asleep on the couch and then struck him repeatedly on the head with a hammer.
Nikki also allegedly confessed to grabbing “my favorite German steel knife and stabbed the s— out of him,” the complaint says, according to the Post.
Nikki’s sister was awakened by the commotion in the living room and attempted to intervene. Nikki allegedly stabbed Liana multiple times.
First responders transported Liana to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She underwent surgery and survived.
Showing no remorse, Nikki reportedly said to investigators, “I wanted them dead.”
Fox News reported that court documents note Nikki Secondino initially tried to blame the attack on robbers who entered the home, but she later admitted to the crimes.
“Two men broke into the kitchen,” Nikki claimed. “They left through the window in the kitchen. They stabbed my father and sister. They tied me up. They tried to rape me,” court filings reveal.
The New York Post previously reported on the turmoil in the family. Last July, Nikki was granted a temporary order of protection against Carlo and Liana after claiming Carlo was in “the mob.”
Later that month, Nikki called 911 during a family argument — officers charged Liana with assault and criminal mischief for allegedly tearing down window blinds, which resulted in injury to Nikki’s hand.
WNBC reported that Nikki has nearly 16,000 Instagram followers and identifies as a “public figure,” “model” and a “living lookbook.”
