In a rare bit of good news from the Hill, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) proudly shared that he had become a first-time father.
Posting on Instagram, Crenshaw announced the birth of his daughter, who will be named after his mother.
The congressman wrote: “Born on September 12th … we can’t express how happy we are to welcome baby Suzy into the world. We are so blessed with this little angel.”
Crenshaw commended his wife Tara: “We waited so long for her to be here, it’s like a dream come true. Tara went for an impressive 18 hours to bring her little girl home, and they’re both healthy and recovering. Supermom indeed.”
The representative noted that his daughter would be named Susan after his mother whom he lost to cancer when he was a boy.
“Susan was my mom’s name,” Crenshaw explained. “I lost her to cancer when I was 10 and was so excited to have a little girl I could name after her.”
Last May, Crenshaw posted a childhood picture of him with his mother and grandmothers. The touching picture was posted on Mother’s Day.
The Daily Caller noted that Crenshaw used the post to announce his wife was pregnant with their first child.
“Happy Mother’s Day! There are 3 generations of moms in that picture,” Crenshaw wrote. “Mother’s Day is always a bit difficult for me, since I lost my mom … Susan Crenshaw was 40 years old when she lost her battle to breast cancer.”
The post continued: “But this year is the first Mother’s Day that hits a little different, because we can celebrate @taracrenshawtx bringing another generation into this world. Little Suzy Crenshaw is coming soon!”
