Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters has been stripped of her authority to monitor elections by Judge Valerie J. Robison.
Robison, a Mesa County District Judge, found that Peters allowed unauthorized consultants to access county voting machines, which facilitated the online leak of sensitive information, including passwords associated with Dominion vote-tabulating equipment.
CNN reported that Dominion login information appeared in a video by an individual affiliated with QAnon.
Tina Peters, a Republican, was elected as Mesa County Clerk in 2018 and offered to assist Donald Trump after election results showed Joe Biden to be the winner.
Peters connected with MyPillow Founder, Mike Lindell, and joined him at a three-day symposium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to allege widespread corruption of election counting equipment, claiming that China had a hand in altering votes cast on Dominion machines.
At Lindell’s conference in August, Peters’ claimed that “forensic images taken of the voting equipment before and after a software upgrade earlier this year proves the 2020 election was fraudulent.”
Now This News reported that “Dominion filed a $1.6 billion lawsuit against Lindell in February, claiming that he defamed the company by spreading his conspiracy theory that the voting machines were rigged or fraudulent.”
Dominion has also sued Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN for defamation.
According to a Yahoo! report, Peters has had challenges in the past. In 2019, Peters office reportedly “failed to count more than 500 ballots in a local election, leading Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, to require Peters’ office to undergo remedial training.”
The Yahoo! report goes on to explain that Judge Robison’s ruling detailed that “Peters last March allowed an unauthorized consultant to access the county’s voting machines, with one of her aides requesting that election-department cameras be turned off for two weeks – long enough to allow that unauthorized third party to make a ‘forensic image’ of the hard drive used by Dominion vote-tabulating equipment.”
Judge Robison’s report also notes that after the unauthorized access to Dominion vote-tabulating equipment, video of Dominion staff performing a software update in Peters’ office leaked on social media, along with the confidential passwords that grant access to voting machines.
The judge ruled that Peters and her aide “neglected their duties by failing to take adequate precautions to protect confidential information, and committed wrongful acts by being untruthful.”
Several investigations regarding the integrity of Dominion are underway. Findings are said to have a significant impact on the effort to advance forensic election audits in dozens of states.
