Gary Ray, a staff writer for RTM, introduces a new book to help the weary get the most out of this Easter season.

Titled The Victor, the 330-page action-packed novel coincides with the formal beginning of the Easter season and addresses humanity’s unceasing search for meaning and hope in life. Links to download an excerpt or place an order are at the end of this article.

Like Dallas Jenkins’ popular series, The Chosen, Ray’s novel is speculative fiction. While remaining true to the biblical narrative of the life of Jesus as presented in the Gospel of Luke, The Victor imagines unseen epic battles between angels and demons and features complex characters at war with each other and themselves.

“I wanted to address the questions many have about the spiritual realm,” said Ray. “From classics like, It’s a Wonderful Life, to the popular show Supernatural, to the Ghostbusters reboot, it’s clear humanity is intensely interested in the spiritual realm. Writing The Victor allowed me to creatively address questions such as…”

Do angels and demons exhibit emotion and have personalities?

Are there different types of angels?

The Bible notes that angels engage in battle, but does that mean an angel can be wounded?

Can an angel die? Will there be a resurrection of sorts for angels?

What did Jesus do between His death on the cross on Friday and Sunday morning?

Ray is a motivational author and speaker with a heart to serve the hurting. He has pastored evangelical churches for more than 25 years, successfully coordinated community support and outreach programs, and gained valuable experience working with the homeless and justice-impacted communities. His experience in ministry and with the hurting, gives him unique insight into the physical and spiritual struggles humanity faces.

Noting the need for good news, Ray said: “The release of the book comes at an opportune time. Studies show the pandemic, growing civil unrest, and constant wars and rumors of wars are exacting a heavy toll on society. Suicide rates are up, depression abounds, and for many, hope is fleeting. I want to share hope—there is always hope.”

Ray has authored 12 books, presented more than 1000 sermons, and is an encourager by nature.

Speaking of how his writing helps him fulfill his calling, Ray said: “The Victor pulls back the veil and provides a glimpse into heaven, the strategy of dark spiritual forces, and the beauty and desire of God, who wants more for His people than this world can offer.”

“The ancient story is timeless,” Ray concluded. “I believe sinners, skeptics, and saints alike will be entertained and encouraged as they read The Victor, a novel that profiles the grace of God while retelling the greatest story ever told.”

RTM viewers are invited to preview an excerpt from the novel HERE.

Orders for the book can be placed HERE. The book is being offered at a 15% discount through Easter.

Gary Ray serves in lead roles with the Set Free Indeed and I Am A Watchman ministries and has been a staff writer with RTM since October. Additional information on his books and ministry work can be accessed HERE
