Actor Tom Sizemore, who appeared in Hollywood’s blockbuster “Saving Private Ryan,” is in critical condition at a Los Angeles hospital. According to Sizemore’s manager, Charles Lago, the actor suffered a brain aneurism at home.
He “is currently in critical condition and it’s a wait and see situation,” Lago said, according to a Deadline report. “His family is aware and waiting for updates. There are no future updates at this time.”
Sizemore is a prolific actor with almost 300 acting credits along with a handful of directing and writing credits. He is probably best known for his work in “Saving Private Ryan,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Natural Born Killers” and “Heat.”
Like many Hollywood actors, Sizemore became addicted to drugs and alcohol.
Sizemore entered a drug rehabilitation program in 1998 after his mother and friend Robert De Niro arrived at his home during the filming of “Witness to the Mob,” according to a 2001 report from the Calgary Sun. The report added De Niro and his mother informed him they were there to drive him to jail or to rehabilitation. Sizemore chose rehab and afterwards counseled adolescents involved in substance abuse.
Steven Spielberg reportedly threatened to reshoot the entire movie if Sizemore failed one drug test, which the actor credited for helping his addiction recovery, according to the actor’s IMDB profile.
Sizemore was arrested a number of times during the 2000s, which led to domestic violence and drug convictions, according to a Page Six report. The report added the actor spent a total of 17 months in jail.
He was found guilty in 2003 of abusing then-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss following his 1999 divorce from Maeve Quinlan.
Sizemore was arrested in 2019 and 2020 for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.
