The Napa County Department of Corrections has released the mugshot of Paul Pelosi after he was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on May 28.
Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was arrested after allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content of .08%, court records show. Neither California Highway Patrol nor the county sheriff’s department was willing to provide more information or images as the investigation is ongoing. Information on property damage and injuries has also been withheld.
The mugshot was taken at approximately 4:30 a.m. on May 29, hours after Pelosi was arrested near Yountville in Napa County. Reports say that the arrest was made after Pelosi’s 2021 Porsche was struck by a 2014 Jeep at around 11:45 p.m. on May 28. There were no injuries reported, and the other driver was not arrested.
Pelosi posted bail in the morning for $5,000.
The department defended its actions in a statement from a spokesperson released on Monday.
“In Napa County, the decision to release or withhold mugshots or booking photos lies with the Napa County Department of Corrections, not the District Attorney’s Office. In the days after Mr. Pelosi’s arrest, Napa County followed the Department of Corrections’ policy regarding the release of booking photos and mugshots. Mr. Pelosi received the same treatment under that policy that all individuals released from County Jail receive.”
Speaker Pelosi’s office declined to comment on the incident, which reportedly happened while she was on the other side of the country.
