On Tuesday, Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, took a moment to issue a memorial for her recently passed mother, posting the last photo the two took together before she died on Jan. 12.
“I feel blessed to have a photo of the last time I saw my beautiful mama,” Keough wrote on Instagram. “Grateful @georgieflores took this.”
Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died nearly two weeks ago at the age of 54, shortly after she was hospitalized after going into cardiac arrest and “not breathing” in her Calabasas home.
She was then transported to a local hospital where she was reportedly in critical condition, in an induced coma and on life support with a temporary pacemaker, TMZ reported. She passed away later that day after going into cardiac arrest a second time.
During Lisa Marie’s memorial, Keough’s husband, Ben Smith-Petersen made a comment about his own family, while reading a letter at a ceremony at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
“Thank you for showing me love is the only thing that matters in this life,” he read.” I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters.”
Until recently, Keough and Smith-Petersen did not have children, but on Sunday, a representative for Keough confirmed that the two had secretly welcomed a baby girl into their family.
The letter, penned by Keough, continued, saying, “Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity.”
“I’m a product of your heart,” it read. “My sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart.”
Lisa Marie is buried with her father as well as her late son, Benjamin Keough, who shot himself several years ago. Lisa Marie was the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla and had a half brother, Navarone Garibaldi, from Priscilla’s 20-year relationship with Marco Garibaldi.
Priscilla thanked fans online for “condolences” amid a challenging time for their family.
“You have touched me with your words,” she wrote on Twitter. “It has been a very difficult time but just knowing your love is out there makes a difference.”
