On Saturday evening, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), a former GOP presidential candidate, proposed to Mindy Noce on Kiawah island beach in South Carolina.
Scott arranged for a photographer to capture the proposal from afar. After Noce said “Yes,” Scott posted two photos and his happy news.
The post was captioned, “She said YES. Mindy, thank you for making me the luckiest man in the world.”
Scott added a Bible verse from the book of Proverbs: “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” – Proverbs 18:22
According to the Washington Post, Scott proposed one day after officially endorsing former President Donald Trump, though Scott has spoken glowingly of Trump throughout his campaign.
Scott suspended his campaign in November, acknowledging that voters let him know, “Not now, Tim.”
Scott reportedly met Noce about a year ago at a Bible study at their church. The outlet noted that Noce is a “Charleston-based design and renovation consultant and a mother of three children.”
The senator told the Daily Caller that he was attracted to Noce for her beauty, character and faith, saying, “My joke is [I was attracted to her] as soon as I saw her picture. … But the truth is about two weeks into it, I knew there was something very different about her and her faith.”
Scott added: “In our first conversation that went about an hour and a half or two, we ended up deciding to do a Bible study together.”
The senator, a traditionalist, shared that he asked Noce’s parents for permission to ask for her hand in marriage before Christmas. The never-before-married 58-year-old told the outlet that he was “somewhat nervous” about the proposal and is now very “thankful for having found a soul mate.”
