Senator Elizabeth Warren dropped a bombshell on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, sending ripples through the political landscape.
Warren announced that if elected president, Kamala Harris plans to work towards granting citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States.
The senator, speaking on behalf of Harris, stated, “I believe we need to create a pathway to citizenship. Kamala Harris will work with Congress and get that done.”
This bold statement marks a significant shift from the current administration’s already lenient approach to immigration, potentially paving the way for one of the largest citizenship grants in U.S. history.
Warren’s startling declaration comes amidst an already heated debate over immigration policies, with the Biden-Harris administration facing widespread criticism for their handling of the border crisis.
“Kamala is a Marxist who wants all of America to follow California’s disastrous path,” TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk said of the Senator’s alarming statement to Tapper.
The Post Millennial (TPM) reported that since President Biden took office in 2020, an estimated 10 million illegal immigrants have entered the country; a figure that has worried many Americans and become a focal point of political discourse.
Tapper, highlighting the public’s discontent with the current administration’s border policies, questioned Warren about the potential political ramifications of nominating Harris.
“By giving the nomination to one of the leaders of the border effort, aren’t Democrats doubling down on one of your party’s biggest vulnerabilities?” he asked.
Warren countered by claiming that border crossings are now lower than during the last year of the Trump administration.
She emphasized the need for comprehensive immigration reform, stating, “We need the tools in order to have more resources at the border, to have more resources in the states and cities that are supporting migrants.”
Her announcement has reignited discussions about Harris’s role as “border czar,” a title she received in March 2021 when tasked by Biden to oversee the immigration crisis at the southern border.
Despite attempts by Harris and her aides to distance her from this responsibility, her involvement in immigration policy remains a contentious issue.
TPM noted that the Trump campaign has been quick to criticize the Biden-Harris administration’s “open-border policies,” attributing the historic influx of illegal immigrants to their lax approach.
At a recent rally in Minnesota, Republican VP nominee JD Vance didn’t mince words, targeting Harris directly: “She wants to hand over control of our country to people who shouldn’t be here in the first place. And we cannot let her.”
Vance’s message to illegal immigrants was equally clear: “If you are here, start packing your bags right now because Donald J. Trump is coming back into office.”
Immigration policy is poised to be a central issue as the 2024 presidential race heats up.
Harris’s alleged plan to grant citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants, if implemented, would mark a significant departure from traditional immigration policies and could fundamentally reshape the demographic landscape of the United States.
With both sides of the political aisle digging in their heels, the coming months are sure to see intense debate and scrutiny over this controversial proposal.
As voters prepare to head to the polls, the question remains: Will Harris’s citizenship pledge be a game-changer or a political liability?
