Southwest Airlines temporarily stopped all flights on Tuesday morning due to “intermittent technology issues.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported, “Southwest Airlines requested the FAA pause the airline’s departures.” According to FlightAware, Southwest’s flight pause grounded more than 1,700 Southwest planes as of 11:30 a.m. ET.
Southwest apologized for any inconvenience and noted in their statement that they were “hoping to get everyone going ASAP.”
Southwest is still reeling from the public outrage over the cancellation of more than 17,000 flights in December, which displaced millions of passengers. Fortunately, Southwest quickly resolved Tuesday’s flight issues and planes are now in the air.
Flights have resumed per their normal schedule.
