Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has issued a sharp rebuke to the leaders of the Lincoln Project, a liberal political action group.
On Monday, Cruz rebuked the Lincoln Project for bringing his children into a political conversation.
A tweet from the Lincoln Project quoted Steve Schmidt as stating:
“If Ted Cruz had kids that age, the chances that they would be unvaccinated are exactly zero. Zero. So, this is another moment of just abject stupidity of a United States Senator.”
The remarks follow Cruz’s statements criticizing Sesame Street for promoting vaccines for young children. Cruz referred to the move as a kind of “government propaganda.”
In an interview with MSNBC, Schmidt, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, sharply criticized Cruz’s concerns that groups were educating children and reducing vaccine hesitancy.

MSNBC also reported that an unnamed GOP leader from Arizona called Big Bird a “Communist.”
In response to the pushback, Schmidt said, “Big Bird’s seemingly innocuous — and obviously fictional.”
He then added sarcastically, “[The] announcement… that he has been vaccinated against COVID-19 caused a stir online.”
Schmidt was referring, in part, to a tweet by Big Bird:
“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy. Ms. @EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!”
Cruz hit back at the Lincoln Project by tweeting, “The pedophiles at @ProjectLincoln need to stop talking about my children.”

The Blaze referred to Cruz’s tweet as a “gut punch,” as it reminded the audience of John Weaver’s controversy with “inappropriate” and “sexually charged” messaging to minors. John Weaver is one of the co-founders of the Lincoln Project.
