Texans joined forces to rescue a herd of horses belonging to Texas A&M’s Parsons Mounted Cavalry that escaped the organization’s gated facility along highways in College Station.
The PMC horses that ventured outside their gated facility surprised many drivers on the road, according to a report from KBTX.
Witnesses to the unusual scene didn’t hesitate to step up and pitch in to save the animals.
As one person captured the incident on camera, they exclaimed, “Oh no!”
Another speculated that perhaps a broken fence led to the horses’ unexpected adventure.
As the horses trotted alongside a fence, a voice heard on the video remarked, “She’s gonna lasso it!” referring to a young woman approaching the animals.
Another individual, driving a pickup truck, cautiously trailed the horses to ensure they stayed off the road, the report noted. Several pedestrians kept a watchful eye on the herd, which eventually paused to graze near a fence.
The community’s swift response garnered much appreciation.
The KBTX report highlighted that these horses are typically seen during game days at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field. The Parsons Mounted Cavalry’s website provides detailed profiles of its herd that includes several mules.
“With any livestock operation, there are some things that are bound to happen, no matter what precautions you take,” said PMC site manager James George. “We appreciate the people who stopped to help us gather our horses. Everyone is fine and we’re back in the saddle.”
Social media users were quick to commend the efforts of the good Samaritans.
One individual noted, “One thing you can say about Texans, there is always plenty of people to help.”
Another expressed relief, saying, “Thank goodness they are safe.”
“Oh wow. Glad they’re ok!,” commented yet another social media user. “Gig’em and GOD BLESS those helpers!”
