Angering leaders in the deep blue state of California, Texas has sent a 12th busload of illegal migrants to the sanctuary city of Los Angeles.
The bus arrived on Monday morning — it was sent in response to the Democratic policies that have led to open borders and significant upticks in crime and fentanyl deaths.
Last week, California’s leaders vowed to take legal action against Texas for sending migrants to California. Previously, California Gov. Gavin Newsom threatened to file kidnapping charges against Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida for sending migrants to California, New York, Washington, D.C., and Delaware.
Los Angeles City Council members allege Gov. Greg Abbott has committed crimes via his deportation program, which has sent 435 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ office reported the Texas bus arrived at about 7:15 a.m. on Monday at Union Station. Local Fox News affiliate FOX 11 reported the bus was carrying 42 migrants, including 23 men, 20 women and 21 children.
The migrants hailed from Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Russia and Venezuela.
KLTV-5 reported the LA City Council is demanding a probe to investigate whether Abbott’s actions violated kidnapping and human trafficking laws.
Fox News reported that Texas has relocated more than 30,000 migrants to Democrat-led cities since 2021.
Republican leaders argue that southern border states have been unduly burdened to care for the millions of undocumented migrants who have flooded across the border opened by Biden administration officials.
Los Angeles officials said they will care for the newcomers to the city. Zach Seidle, deputy mayor of communications said, “As we have before, when we became aware of the bus yesterday, we activated our plan.”
In response to the criticism from Los Angeles officials, Abbot’s spokesperson Andrew Mahaleris said, “The LA Council members are complete hypocrites. In June, they unanimously voted to become a sanctuary city, welcoming migrants to the city.”
Mahaleris continued: “Texas began busing migrants to sanctuary cities like Los Angeles last year to provide relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities.”
The spokesperson added: “Instead of complaining about dealing with a fraction of the border crisis our small border towns deal with every day, the City Council should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something the President continues failing to do.”
