Biden administration’s open border policies have led a Texas border town to declare a state of emergency due to an influx of illegal immigrants.
Rolando Salinas Jr., mayor of Eagle Pass, Texas, issued the emergency declaration on Tuesday after immigrants swarmed the city and the population grew approximately 10 percent in a few days.
Fox News reported more than 2,200 immigrants were caught on video illegally crossing the border near Eagle Pass on Friday.
On Sunday, video captured a flood of immigrants in open train cars traveling from Zacatecas, Mexico, to the United States.
Reporter Bill Melugin of Fox News reported more than 1,000 immigrants from Venezuela entered Eagle Pass on Wednesday.
The Daily Caller reported Mayor Salinas said in his declaration:
“The city of Eagle Pass is committed to the safety and well-being of local citizens. The emergency declaration grants us the ability to request financial resources to provide the additional services caused by the influx of undocumented immigrants.”
Several northern cities and states, such as New York City, Chicago and Massachusetts, are joining leaders in border states and demanding President Biden do more to limit immigration and close the southern border.
According to government data, Border Patrol recorded more than 1.6 million illegal crossings at the southern border between October 2022 and July. Many believe the number to be much higher.
On Sept. 12, the Office of Attorney General Ashley Moody claimed: “Attorney General Ashley Moody continues to uncover evidence of the Biden administration’s intentional destruction of the nation’s border with Mexico” by establishing immigration quotas and secretly busing immigrants across middle America.
Homeland Security Chief Alejandro Mayorkas has declared the southern border secure.
On Sept. 11, Vice President Kamala Harris, President Biden’s appointed “border czar,” declared “We are seeing progress” on the border.
