Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) pushed back against Democrats who mocked her attire at Tuesday’s State of the Union speech and accused her of disrespecting the hallowed chambers and event with a breach of decorum.
On Wednesday, Fox News host Sean Hannity invited Greene onto his show to discuss the matter. He introduced the segment by accusing Democrats of hypocrisy, noting that in recent years Democrats have “thrown tantrums,” and Nancy Pelosi has shown great contempt for the president and State of the Union address.
After noting a few disparaging comments made by Democratic Representatives and members of the left-leaning show “The View,” Hannity invited Greene to address the “nasty women” who criticized her coat.
Greene said: “Occasionally, I get yelled at by old white women, and I always know that they watch ‘The View’ because those are some nasty women on that show, and they have no right to insult anyone’s fashion.”
“I was wearing a wool coat,” Greene continued. “Actually, and it’s one of my favorite coats because I got it in Wyoming when I was campaigning against and raising money to beat Liz Cheney, and I was happy to wear it to the State of the Union because it simply went with my dress.”
Greene’s coat was a particular target of the women hosting “The View.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that she “was distracted by Marjorie Taylor Greene’s jacket. It looked like she skinned my puppy,” she said as a picture of a small dog flashed across the screen.
Greene dismissed “The View’s” comments as irrelevant:
“I’ll challenge the women on ‘The View’ anytime for a debate because they represent the worst part of America, the worst views, and to be honest with you, no one in my district cares what they think,” Greene said.
Greene made headlines when cameras caught her yelling “Liar” when President Joe Biden stated that Republicans intended to gut Social Security.
Greene defended her actions, saying: “The reason why I did that is because they have used my image and my name as leading the effort in that when we have not had not one single meeting in the GOP conference talking about cutting Social Security and Medicare.”
Greene added: “Joe Biden is a liar. I represent the American people, and I was honored to be able to call him the liar that he is in the People’s House and not allow him to get away with it.”
A Breitbart survey found that most Americans believe President Joe Biden “is untrustworthy and dishonest,” leading many in the party to encourage a different candidate to step forward to run in 2024.
