Ray Stevenson starred in many action movies, including “Punisher: War Zone,” “Thor” and “RRR.” Stevenson also starred in popular TV shows such as “Vikings” and “Ahsoka,” a Star Wars spinoff.

Before coming to the states, Stevenson attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and then worked in British television. Early moves toward the big screen included a small role in Paul Greengrass’ 1998 film “The Theory of Flight” and Antoine Fuqua’s “King Arthur” as a knight of the Round Table.

The year after the HBO series “Rome” concluded, Stevenson starred in “Punisher: War Zone.” Later, he was cast as Volstagg in “Thor.”

In 2017, Stevenson played the role of one of Thor’s friends – part of the Warriors Three – in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

A versatile and dedicated actor, Stevenson also was cast in the “Divergent” trilogy, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “The Transporter: Refueled.”

In 2020, Backstage reported that Stevenson held actors like Lee Marvin and Gene Hackman in high esteem, saying they “never had a bad performance.” Stevenson went on to say that he did not identify with the “young, hot leading man” but rather the “brave and fearless.”

Hollywood Reporter noted that Stevenson is survived by his three children: Sebastiano, Leonardo and Lodovico.
